Greenwich Choral Society Holds an Open “Community” Sing

And Auditions for Prospective Members

The Greenwich Choral Society launched its 2017-2018 season with an informal “Open Sing” of Mozart’s REQUIEM on Tuesday, September 12th, 7:30 PM, at First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich.

The OPEN SING, held in September, kicks off the season for current members, and is an opportunity for accomplished singers, people who enjoy singing or anyone who might like to try. Absolutely no experience is necessary. The audience is the choir!

This event is an opportunity for anyone considering joining the Greenwich Choral Society to get a firsthand look at how we operate. Current members of GCS look forward to “tuning up their voices” at the OPEN SING and it is hoped that non-GCS members who attend the event will hear the voices of GCS and be enticed to join the choral society in order to perform with us.

The event is conducted by Paul F. Mueller, Music Director of the Greenwich Choral Society, who will provide insights into the history of the composer and the work. A preview of the Greenwich Choral Society’s  season will be presented, and a relaxed, informal environment will prevail.  Music will be available at the door at no charge.

An appointment to audition for regular membership in the Choral Society can be arranged before or after the OPEN SING. Auditions are held in September and January. Singers are needed for all voice parts, particularly tenors.

The Greenwich Choral Society, a 120-voice experienced volunteer chorus, sings a broad repertoire of classical music. Musical plans for 2017-2018 include a traditional holiday concert at Christ Church-Greenwich on December 2 and 3, a festive concert at the Greenwich Performing Arts Center on March 17, and a grand finale at Norwalk Concert Hall on May 5.

The Chorus rehearses Tuesday nights in Old Greenwich. A 10-minute private audition consists of vocalizing to demonstrate range and quality of production, followed by sight-singing; NO prepared piece is required. For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Bill Fulton at
